Nine players set to return to Express

The Eau Claire Express announced Monday the return of nine players from 2014 to the 2015 roster. Outfielders Brady Burzynski and Tyler Jones, shortstop Peter Van Gansen, infielder Sam Hurt and pitchers Travis Neubeck, Dalton Roach, Jordan Ruckman, Connor Rusch and CJ Eldred all will be back in Eau Claire this summer. Burzynski, Hurt and Roach are all Eau Claire natives.

Flying Eagles fare well in Minnesota

Andrew Urlaub and Ben Dowling won honors at St. Paul and Carter Lee was the top jumper at Minneapolis to lead the Flying Eagles in junior ski jumping tournaments over the weekend.

Sunday at St. Paul in a 70-jumper field, Urlaub had jumps of 47 and 48 meters (154-157 feet) to win the Under-14 class and take tournament honors, while Dowling took first in U-16 with jumps of 452-482 meters (150-159 feet) on the K46-meter hill. Other Eagles to place high were Stewart Gundry, first in U-10 on the K20; Lee, second in U-12 on the K30; Riley Steuernagel, first, and Natalia Mattoon, third, in U-12 Open Girls; Eli Gundry, first, and Annie Misurek, second, in U-8 on the K10 and Tony Benzie, second, in Masters on the K46.

Saturday at Minneapolis, Carter Lee won U-12 on the K28 hill and had the day's longest jumps of 28-282 meters (92-94 feet) to take tournament honors, while Landon Lee won U-14 with jumps of 24-252 meters (79-84 feet), followed by Logan Gundry (23-24 meters, 75-79 feet). On the K8 hill, Eli Gundry won U-8 with Evan Solberg third and Annie Misurek second, while Stewart Gundry took first in U-10 on the K18. Mike Haynes won Masters.
