U.S. ski jumpers found the going tough against a large group of World Cup skiers in Saturday’s two Continental Cup events at Titisee-Neustadt, Germany.
Nick Mattoon of the Flying Eagles finished 50th and 52nd with a long jump of 346 feet. Kevin Bickner was 45th and 30th and Anders Johnson took 31st and 37th. Norwegians Kenneth Gangnes and Danile Andre Tande were the winners, Tande having the long jump of 471 feet. A third tournament is slated today. In the World Championships at Falun, Sweden, Norway won the team championship with Austria second and Poland third. The United States did not enter a team.
