Eau Claire native and current Wisconsin Badger men’s hockey defenseman Ty Emberson was one of 29 players named to the preliminary roster for the 2019 U.S. National Junior team. He’ll participate in the program’s training camp on Dec. 15-17 in Everett, Wash.
The U.S. will cut the roster down by six players for the upcoming IIHF World Junior Championship in Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia.
Emberson, a former Memorial Old Abe, has scored a goal and has four assists in 16 games with Wisconsin this season. He’s one of three Badgers who earned the invite, as Sean Dhooghe and K’Andre Miller also made the cut.
Five players on the roster were on last year’s U.S. squad that earned bronze in Buffalo, N.Y.
