Menomonie’s Kylie Mogen made a free throw with 14 seconds left to break a tie and lift the Mustangs girls basketball squad to a 64-63 home win against Regis.
Lindsey Johnson led the Mustangs with 23, while Destiny Haldeman had 16 and Mogen 12 to help Menomonie overcome a 33-point performance from Regis’ Teryn Karlstad.
Eau Claire Area 3, Western Wisconsin 0: Naomi Stow made 23 saves in a shutout performance, while Ava Kison, Paige Ruppert and Kami Krumenauer all scored.
The win, a bounce back performance from ECA’s loss to Hudson on Thursday, has serious state poll ramifications. The Stars were ranked No. 3 in the latest WIPH/Coaches Girls Top Ten, one spot higher than Western Wisconsin.
Charlotte Akervik also picked up a pair of assists as ECA moved to 12-3-0.
Elk Mound 58, St. Croix Central 51: Brett Lew scored 14 for the Mounders, who survived 10 3-point makes from St. Croix Central. Elk Mound hit seven from long range, with three coming from Rian Flynn and two from Lew.
Osseo-Fairchild 73, Arcardia 57: The Thunder won a third straight game thanks to 30 points from Logan Mulhern and 19 from Cory Myhers.
